Advanced Remedial Massage

Advanced Remedial Massage involves using a series of techniques such as myofascial release (MFR), muscle energy techniques (MET’s), mobilisations and proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF’s). Focuses on joints and ligaments as well as muscles and tendons.

Chronic muscle spasm can be detrimental to joints, tissues and even organs in the affected area. The body will also change it’s natural movement patterns to compensate for these cramp-like, sustained contractions and will distort the skeleton, leading to further problems.

Advanced techniques can help re-align the spine and pelvis and improve joint mobility and motion. Some of the specific conditions that can benefit from this treatment are;

MET’s are particularly useful for those who cannot receive manipulation ie arthritic conditions.

  • Knee injuries (meniscal tears/ligament injuries)
  • ‘Frozen’ shoulder
  • Torticollis
  • Rotator cuff injury
  • Pelvic imbalances
  • Whiplash injury
  • Sacro-iliac joint dysfunction
  • Ilio-Tibial Band Syndrome (Runners Knee)
