Kinesiology Taping

Kinesiology Taping is an elastic, hypoallergenic tape used to support and stabilise muscles and joints while facilitating movement rather than inhibiting.

It was developed in the 1970s by a Japanese Chiropractor, Dr Kenzo Kase, to promote the healing of soft tissues and to alleviate pain.

The latex free tape can be used as a preventative measure as well as a treatment for injuries and for a variety of conditions – Plantarfasciitis, Tibialis Anterior Syndrome (shin splints), lower back pain, Tennis/Golfers elbow, Tendonitis, muscle strains/cramps, I.T.Band Syndrome, Carpal Tunnel, Knee pain and shoulder pain. The tape can also be fan cut to reduce swelling and so will also help with Oedema and Bursitis.

Kinesio tape is designed to mimic the skins elasticity therefore allowing full range of motion while creating a ‘lift’ that will decompress the tissues and so reduces joint irritation. When an area of pain is decompressed it interrupts the transmission of pain signals to the brain thus resulting in reduced discomfort. It also enhances the flow of lymphatic fluid which encourages dead cells to be removed from the body to aid the healing process.

Anybody can benefit from Kinesiology Taping, not just athletes! This treatment is usually applied within a Remedial and Sports massage with the tape being applied towards the end of the session. The tape is waterproof and can last around 3-5 days at which point it can be easily peeled off.

There are a variety of colours in stock – blue, pink, purple, orange and black. There is no difference in benefit between each colour.

In order to change we must be sick and tired of being sick and tired
